The Troll Tree

Once upon a time, there was a young wizard who loved tending to his plants. He had fields of gardens and orchards, windowsills filled with herbs and flowers, and vines growing all around his home.

Since he lived near a forest, this wizard knew that he had to put up with the local trolls and their parties they would throw. Still, it didn't bother him much... until they began holding bonfires at their nightly parties.

Trees were being cut down by the dozens to fuel these fires every night. The bright flames would light the skies at night and the smoke and ash would darken the dawn. The wizard was worried for his plants with this haze, but figured it would eventually calm down and the trolls would tire of their partying.

Still, the forests were thinned and the parties kept going. One troll became brash enough to venture onto the wizard's orchards and with one mighty chop, he cut down one of his prized apple trees. The wizard finally had enough. He stormed out of his home to the troll.

"Will you at least re-plant what you have destroyed?" asked the wizard angrily.
The troll just huffed and gave a smug smirk and began walking away dragging the beautiful apple tree with him.
The wizard took one of the fallen apples and aimed for the troll's head.
Since the wizard loved his plants so much, he used his magic to care for them. The trees and their fruit were brimming with magical energies.
When that apple hit the troll on the back of the head, it turned him into wood! The trolls fingers and toes stretched out like roots and his skin became craggy like bark.

Then, the young wizard began digging a hole just deep enough to plant his new TrollTree. He cared for it so deeply, it still stands tall to this day.
