I have always been a fan of Strawberry Shortcake since its debut in the 80's when I was a kid. I' like the latest versions of the characters, but they only chose 5 of the characters to focus on - there were a TON of them back in the day!
So, I thought I'd make my own characters.
Cranberry & Pomegranite - those flavors are in every kind of juice you can find now, so I figure they're all about trying to fit in with all the other characters
WaterMelonie - there was never a Watermelon character that I know (or pineapple!) of which is kind of strange to me. She's my favorite of this bunch. I figure she's kinda nerd-gothy for some reason...
KiKi Lime - the original series of characters had Lime Chiffon who was a ballerina with a parrot, so I thought through the re-vamp and the vast amounts of green, I'd make her a scout. Citrus scout! Now I want to see Orange Marmalade and Lemon Merengue with their little uniforms!
BanAnna & Coconut - brother & sister who live on a tropical island. Maybe they met the berry bunch when they came to vacation in their tropical town. Coconut would have a crush on KiKi Lime (put de lime in de coconut and shake it all up) so they have matching friendship bracelettes.
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and the related trademarks are federally registered trademarks of Hasbro, American Greetings Corporation and/or Those Characters From Cleveland, Inc., an American Greetings company - they don't belong to me.

I fell in love with this piece ages ago, but never made an account until just yesterday. I swear I first saw this image some time before 2009, which is further supported by cranberry and pomegranate being in every juice, the characters Watermelon Kiss, Lime Light, Cocoa Calypso, and Banana Candy, who all predate 2011, not being mentioned, and "only choose 5 characters to focus on" (Strawberry Shortcake, Ginger Snap, Angel Cake, Orange Blossom, and Huckleberry Pie). Can you confirm my memories of this image being part of my life sometime before 2009? If I were to guess, you drew this piece in 2003-2004, or at least before 2007.
